I'll have to go with the 1908 Gem Junior crowd for now... might not even be my favorite Gem shave (need more experience to tell), but just on looks alone! I also agree on a wood handle and Ivorite too... and I WILL be picking up at least one of each at some point (I'll apologize in advance for outbidding whoever here I out bid, then again, keep in mind others have outbid me as well- a couple really nice ones escaped my grasp recently).

So far I have only tried the featherweight and the 3 micromatic variations although I have 2 Ever Ready's and a Gem 1912 on the way. I'll keep you folks posted.
Out of the 4 that I have tried so far, I with out a doubt liked the Micromatic Clog Pruf the Best!

My favorite SE is the OC Micromatic. Let the flaming begin Some how missed this one.. The OCMM is a tempermental beast but I do love it. Not as much as my 1912 or lather catcher models.. Have you used any of the other models? If you have said anywhere my oldtimers is kicking in and I do not remember. Fuzzy

Used every GEM style, except the lather catchers. I have an ER lather catcher, but I really haven't used it enough to get it down. If anyone has a really nice lather catcher that you think shaves nice, I'm always open to changing my mind about my favorite

I'll admit that I haven't tried all of the models of Gems that are out there, but I have tried a good many of them, including a good sampling of the older and the newer styles. I had about concluded that the shaves couldn't get any better than what I was getting with a 1912, when Dave convinced me to try the earlier models. I have been wet shaving for over 55 years and I can't really tell you how many different models of DE's, SE's, injectors and cartridge razors I have tried over the years, but I have not found a razor that beats the quality and comfort of the shave I get from my 1900/1901 patent, Gem Jr. Bar Razor. I have said before and I still believe that safety razor design reached it's peak about 110 years ago. Regards, Tom

Thought I'd drag this out of the archives to see if anyone has changed their opinion in the last few months.
My favorite is the Clog Pruf because it gives me perfect shaves every single time. The "semi open comb" design seems to be the perfect balance between closeness and comfort for my face and style. If told to pick one Gem to use exclusively for the rest of my life it would be CP. In fact I just bought another one today!
The most fun for me to use, however, are the newer designs like the G-bar, Pushbutton, Featherweight and I'm guessing the new Contour I got today.
There is a difference between favorite, and most fun. At least for me...

(I still can't bear to crack open my NOS one) I think I am gonna dig out my clogpruf and give it a shot again. I may not have given it a fair chance before. (Besides, I can do a little brass buffin at the same time!)

I know you prefer razors that were around when dinosaurs roamed the earth, but yeah, give the CP another chance.
