As I recall reading these were the first really disposable blades. From this and other forums, I got the impression one can use a half a DE in them or and injector blade (or a feather). Anything I should know about it's use? How to set a blade, just clamp it in, what exposure, or is it more like- "use it like a 1912"? Did the set some with a wooden handle? All the pics I see is with a black handle.

You lucky sod... excellent price! They're great razors, but handle with care.... I find it to be the most aggressive of all my SE razors. It does give a fantastically close shave, but will bite you if you're not careful. I gave myself a nasty nick a few days ago up by my sideburn.... bled and bled - finally got it to stop with several applications of styptic. Walked out the door and called someone on the phone - when I got to work I looked at my phone and noticed it was covered with dried blood. Raced to the bathroom and I had a 1cm patch of dried blood smeared on my face. Nice. Anyway, my tips.... Injector blades work really well - you'll want to play with how the blade sits - I've found, and D.Irving79, suggested that you leave approximately the same amount of 'flat' blade (ie before it angles to the cutting point) as you have gap for the comb. I've got a photo on my badger and blade post if that doesn't make sense. You can also apparently use snapped DE blades - I've not tried it yet, but to get them to fit you'll need to snip of the squared edges at the side of the blade. Play with blade angle, as you would any other razor - it really sings when you've got it right. Enjoy it!

I've seen your pics of the blade placement and I'll try it. And I think I'll stick to the injector blades for now- they are more close to the original ones. Any more info on it? All I can find is your and Daves posts on various forums. I'll take a look at the Waits compendium also when I get home.

The razor came. Cleaned up nice! PS. Dave, I see you changed the price on the price guide. This razor is in worse condition than the one you sold, so I think you should return the 200$ price.

Why not go for Rhodium if you are going to replate?? Wonderful looking - and as hard as nails.
How have you done with it for shaving? Do you like it?

I'd go with silver because the original is silver plated. I like it. Little aggresive so one has to keep in mind not to put pressure on it, since it's a little on the light side. I like the fact I can mod DE blades to fit. ;D

I like the fact I can mod DE blades to fit. ;D The main component of the frame is actually solid metal alloy - german silver - which is a mixture of mostly copper with nickel and zinc. It does indeed look like silver, but it isn't. I don't know how german silver plates, that would be important to be clear on before plating. (Actually, I personally wouldn't plate one of these razors - it is kinda like getting a new chin and fatter lips for grandpa - not something I would want to see!). I am glad you have had success with modifying DE blades for the razor. I have only tried injector blades in mine - I think it is time for me to try a DE mod. You just cut them in half with scissors???

I'll see. Maybe I'll leave it alone- in the end, it is a 100+ year old razor. It has more character this way. Just take a DE in it's wrapper, fold it with your hands so it breaks in half, and snip the little two "flaps" on the sides a little. And you're set Of course, the injector is more authentic and a DE dulls faster. If I could find some metal cutters or something I'd cut SE blades in half. That would be the best.
