Thanks so much for the tip on these. I got some and finally got a good shave from my Valet AS. And a great shaver it is. I'm on shave #4 with the first blade and it is still going strong.

I can not get many more then that from one of the Feather SE. Then again it is the same for the Feather DE. They are really sharp but dull quicker then some others I think.
Glad you are liking the Auto Strop. I think I will break out one of mine here soon.

I do really like the way the Auto Strop shaves. Great audibles and aggressive in terms of per pass reduction, but my shaves were irritation free without nicks or weepers.

i just finished six shaves from my first Feather se blade and I've got mixed feelings about them. I bought some from a member at B&B who bought a large order of them so the price was better than the full retail price, which is kind of steep. They are a very sharp blade, but seems to only last for 5 shaves, for me number 6 was pretty rough. I took the spine from a used Gem blade and put it on the Feather so that I could use it in a 1912, 1914 and 1924 ER for the test. One real drawback to the Feather is that it won't work in a Micromatic.
I also enjoy using the VAS but find it works pretty good with modified se blades.
I'm just not convinced that for the price they offer any real advantage over the more easily obtainable standard se blades.

I like them cause it is closer to the original. 5 shaves is good to me for any blade.

There was talk on this thread earlier about the possibility of a bulk/group buy on these Feather's . Is anybody out there thinking of this? I could use 10 or 20. The time to chime - is now! Drilling blades - you might have an idea there Chuck. I have never tried it, but I imagine that the blades would drill fairly easy. If you could keep them clamped in such a way as to protect the edge from contact with anything, it might work. I hope somebody is willing to try! I haven't much for tools so I'm not the guy. Seeing this post come up again got me reading about the Feathers once more. I never had much luck with getting a good shave in a Valet for some reason (only really tried the model c). But, after seeing this thread I hauled one out and popped into my fav razor, the Wester (pretty much similar design to the Henckel Rapide - but it is the original of this type). Due to the design of this razor, the Feather spineless fits very nicely into the Wester handle - and the rest is history! Fabulous combination - late 1800's technology and adventure of design, mixed with the cutting edge (ha!) blade technology of today's brilliant Japanese engineers. Yowser - worked dynamite!!! Time for a group buy!!!! My Wester just keeps on kicking it up a notch!!! (thnx Hoosier!) Agree that a group buy would be an excellent idea. These blades work wonderfully in my AS, but the price at current retail is a real killer for regular use.

I'm just not convinced that for the price they offer any real advantage over the more easily obtainable standard se blades. The real advantage to me is the ability to load them in the VAS that require the blade cut outs. I used one today in my VB2 and it was an excellent shave. However, I will get at most 6 shaves out of the blade so they are a now and then treat.
