Dave's introduction to this Blind Pig forum said we could talk about pie. Well, I want to talk about pie!! I live in Canada. We are lame with our pies. You can get some good ones if you work really hard at it. But for the most part, a few basic pies and that is it. But, I know many of you are american, and my bestestest pie memories are from driving trips through various states and stopping at these Pie joints. Actualy Pie restaurants with like 50+ kinds of pie! Yummmmmy! I had my first ever sour cream pie in Washington. And of course the old key lime pie which I held off for until I got a hunk in Florida in, well, the Keys of course! I think americans have the best darned pies in the world! My favorite, period, is pecan. Nice and thick and fatty with sh*tloads of sugar and pecans!! Yep. (Mind you, I don't do that so much these days ) What is your favorite american style pie? I want to dream of pie, so your descriptions will help!

Pie is wonderful! @^_^@ I love boysenberry pies from a diner chain called Coco's anywhere else I have tried it the pie has always been runny and over sweetened Of course nothing beats pumpkin pie NOTHING! As far as America having great pies...yes, yes we do the only other kinds I have found that come close are European cheese pies. They are good in taste however they don't inspire visions of what I think of when I think pie. I would compare them more to cheesecake...but thats another category all together Interesting fact for the gents (hope I don't get in trouble for being lewd ) When a university did research to find out what food made women most aroused none of the common aphrodisiacs worked. They did however find out that pumpkin pie did in fact raise women's arousal

Apple pie. Good ol' American staple. My wife bakes the best pie in the world. No restaurant can match it. Because I am diabetic she makes the pie sugar free using Splenda and it is simply marvelous.
She learned how to make wonderful pie crust from her Uncle Bill and former brakeman on the railroad who also doubled as the crew cook. That was when they worked for more than eight hours and had the caboose on the end of the train as a home away from home for the train crew.

Got to be Pecan pie with a nice scoop of Cool Whip on the top at Thanksgiving! Usually the only time I have some. My mom makes a great one but so does my mother in law so I of course sample both.

Yum! That would probably be pretty good! I'm having a hard time warming up to the tomato idea. Although, I do recall years ago trying a green tomato pie which tasted oddly like an apple pie, but because of the look of the tomato slices, made me feel kinda quesy.

Here in South Oz we have a local delicacy, the Pie Floater. A fresh meat pie bathed in a thick pea soup. Usually purchased late at night from a mobile pie cart.Absolutely sensational. ;D ;D OK dooood!!! I made Chili Pie the other day!!! Essentially, from what I understand from the research I did on it, ya got yer chili, then ya got yer corn bread topping (2 ways to do the topping - cornbread with flour and cornmeal, or corn bread sort of topping with cooked cornmeal, polenta really) spread on top to bake on top of the chili. I made it at home with my particularly french canadian polish slant on chili, mixed in with my ukranian wife's rendition of cornbread, and we came up with, well, chilipie!!!! (maybe!) SpinyEel dood - if you read this - what is chilipie where you come from?? Anything like what I made?? Also, does yer chili have kidney beans or no kidney beans? Ground meat or chunky meat? Tomato or not tomato?? Floured cornbread or polenta style cornbread?? So many questions - and so few chilipies!!!!! YUMMMMM - I DO LIKE TO EAT!
