I started DE shaving at the start of march. Looking around at all the antique stores, I bypassed multiple SE razors because A. they looked scary, and B. they were cheaper, so they must be inferior. BIG MISTAKE. Last Friday I bought an Ever-Ready 1912 basically because it was offered at a price I couldn't refuse. Saturday I bought some GEM blades at Walgreens and had my first SE shave Saturday evening. Due to improper blade angle, I did have a little razor burn, but the thing I noticed was BBS carried all the way through Sunday. Monday was a two pass shave with no irritation. I'm hooked. I haven't given up DE's altogether, but I find I'm not as excited about my DE's as I am about my lone SE. So I have a 1912, now I'm looking into other SE options. What would be others recomendations of other SE's to try?

Welcome to the show. That razor you have is one of the best I think. Seems everyone likes the lather catcher models also. But really any of them give great shaves. I used one of my Feather weights the other day loved it.
Hope you enjoy the site.

Welcome!!!!
I had the same experience as you with the SE shavers. I had been exclusively DE and then a fellow shave sent me a 1912 and some blades to try out (couldn't find either where I was). I was hooked from stroke one!! The sound was what really grabbed me first. That, and the great feel of the blade doing it's work.
Welcome to TOS - looking forward to seeing you around the boards!!!
