Hello! I found this forum by way of B&B. It's great that there's a site catering to us SE shavers. I've been using SE razors for a little over six months now after having been a wet shaver for most of my life starting with my first shave with my dad's Schick injector back in the early '70s. I have a modest collection of Gems: an OC MM, a MM Clog Pruf, and a Featherweight. I get outstanding shaves from them all. I have a number of DE razors, all of which have been languishing in a drawer for months now and will probably remain there until I sell them, PIF them, or give them to friends or family...in fact, I've already started doing a bit of that. Once you go SE, it's hard to go back! __________ Jeff

Jeff,
Welcome to TOS. Glad to see you are getting into SE shaving and actually considering getting rid of some of your DE razors.
Now all I have to do is convince you to get some "real" SE razors. A 1912 style GEM or GEM Jr, even Eveready too. Then it is onto the best of the bunch, some lather catcher style SEs.
Once you latch onto a few of those types you will see that SE shaving can be really fun and will not longer want to waste your shaving time on those less than good MM and all.
Before I go, I must tell you that I am the one on this Forum who absolutely hates the MM of any type as well as some great displeasure with the Featherweights and the Contours. So take my remarks as being about the razors themselves and not about your choice of them. I will agree that those razors are much better than many DE razors out there.
Come on back often and get in line to give a hard time about my MM phobia, many guys do! ;D

Welcome Jeff!! Like you, I started using my DE razors a lot less once I picked up on the SE shave. Nowadays, I rarely haul out a DE. You have a good selection of razors there and should definately get in some excellent shave time!! Possum has a point about keeping your eyes out for a 1912 or LC style. They are a treat too! There is no rush though - you are probably gonna be shaving right up to the end! Some guys run through everything in the first couple of months. It is something though that you can stretch for quite a while and it keeps up the excitement! Enjoy your SEs and come join us with questions and comments! SEE YA ROUND THE BOARDS!!!!

To be honest, it wasn't mine either when I first tried it. I bought the FW to get some SE shaving experience under my belt before I tackled the MMOC once again. The 1912 is currently at the top of my list for my next acquistion. I've heard so much positive buzz about it that I've got to try it. Chances are I'll probably have one before the end of the month. __________ Jeff
