well i owe it all to hoosier trooper, i joined BnB, bought several De razors and although it was great something was missing. Of course I am the guy in the neighborhood with grease in his hair, wrenching on an old car, making the neighbors mad, basically frustrated that I wasnt born 60 yrs earlier. Long live SE razors, V8s, high hair and all things old and cool.
Next week im getting a "damaskeene" tattoo, the less that figure it out the better.

Welcome Willy! ;D ;D ;D
I was alive 60 years ago and do remember vividly many of the things you mentioned above. Also remember watching my favorite uncle shaving with a soap, mug, brush and an old Gillette DE razor. It was a Superspeed I believe.
When I started shaving it was with an electric like my dad. But that lasted just a few months when my uncle let me use his razor just once and I was hooked. That lasted for about 10 yrs and then the cartridge/disposable craze hit the market and I went that root until 3 years ago.
It was about 6 months after getting back to traditional wet shaving that I ran into a fella who goes by D.Irving79 on SMF and other boards. He got me hooked on SE shaving and I really haven't looked back. I still use a DE about 1 out of 3 shaves cause I still love they way they shave but my go to razors are all my SEs. Actually I want to emphasize my "Lathercatchers"!
Good luck with your shaving endeavors. Any SE questions come on over and shout at us. Someone will help you out.

Being new here myself and having benefited from the kindness of many on SMF I am pleased to find a fan club for the SEs. Owning only the lowly Contour II I find my self wondering what accounts for the popularity of the Lather Catcher type? Alan

You gotta try one to know. The Contour II shaves good. But most of the other models are more popular. The lather catcher is the top of the pile imho.

Have you tried a Gem Jr. or one of the Micromatics? Great razors.
