Joe,
Just looked at these two. My guess about the DE razor is that the top is a mismatch. I would not think that a company would make a mostly plastic razor and then put a metal top on it. Of course you may have already assumed that.
But it seems like I have seen a complete plastic razor like it somewhere in one of the other forums.

Star built a DE razor, I believe for WWII, that was plastic with a metal cap. I have one in a plastic slide top box similar the the one the Gem G3 is in. fUZZY
