razor- Gem Damaskeene blade- Gem Stainless (day 3) cream- C&E sweet almond oil a/s- dollar store brut knockoff
Results- really good shave! I've been having a problem with my blades rusting out after the second shave. I use stainless blades, not carbon steel, so this was a little bit of a surprise to me.
Anyway, I started hand stropping my blade after each shave and the problem's gone away AND my shaves have improved. I don't hand strop DE blades; it works well with SE blades and it is super easy to do.

Tuesday Night:
Schick Injector razor (Type L) NOS Schick Super Chromium blade
Semogue 740 brush (pure badger) Art of Shaving, Unscented, shaving soap
Thayer's Original Witch Hazel (Astringent: 10% alcohol, no -parabens, no burn)
The Schick Type L is what I learned to shave with, over 40 years ago. Since I've gone back to the DE, however, I haven't seemed to have really gotten this one right. The shave wasn't very smooth. I skipped the first pass, like I did with the SE, but the blade didn't feel very sharp. It already had a few shaves on it, but I don't recall that they were many. It has been a few months since I last used it though.

Thursday
Razor - 1898 Zinn Gem Automatic Blade - Ted Pella injector Cream - D.R. Harris Arlington Styptic AND Witch hazel AS - Proraso
I was tired this morning (have a 2 month old son - enough said), but needed a really close shave as I'm being filmed for TV this afternoon. Decided to use my Zinn as it gives me the closest shaves (though admittedly sometimes a little too close. All went well apart from a nasty nick near my sideburn. Damn thing wouldn't stop bleeding. I thought it had stopped, so rushed out the door to a meeting.... talked on the phone on the way down the road, hung up then noticed I had crusted blood all over my phone. Not nice. Stopped into the bathroom at work and noticed I had a nice patch of dried blood on the side of my face - about 1cm diamater. I thought I was getting strange looks! Grr.
That said, five hours later I still have a BBS and my skin looks great too.....
Might use my injector tomorrow morning - filming in the morning tomorrow, and can't afford to have blood everywhere.... it's a music programme, not a horror film.
