Hello Gents: This is my first post. I am usually a DE user, but I found this Ever-Ready SE at an antique store today. I loved the weight in my hand and the balance. But, as this is my first SE, I know nothing about it. The head reads "Patented March 24/14 MADE IN U.S.A" Any thoughts on the model? I can supply more pictures if needed. I am really curious about the razor. One other question. The area that closes over the blade has some up and down play in it. Is that normal, or should I avoid using it on my face? DE razors work best when they are tight; is it the same with SEs? Any information would be appreciated. I can supply more pics on request. Yours, Brandon Attachments:

There is some information regarding this razor at this link: theoriginalsafety.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=er&action=display&thread=184Yours has the later model handle putting it perhaps into the 1920's, but it has the same razor frame as the original 1914 models. (You can see your model in a pic from the collectors encyclopedia here www.collectorsencyclopedia.com/imgins/1433A.jpg) In my opinion, these are great razors!! It is still near the top in my list. I find it lighter and easier to 'drive' than a 1912 and the features similar to an earlier lather catcher make it a wonderful shaver. And - WELCOME TO TOS!!!You are going to find a great bunch of helpful folks here who for whatever reason have a real love for these early single edge razors.

Oh yeah, regarding your question about the tightness of the razor cap. On all the ones I have (and I probably have way too many of these!) they are all quite tight. In fact, the one beef I have is that you gotta watch your fingers when closing the cap as they snap down something fierce. If yours is not closing tightly, there might be an issue with the spring clip. Take a look at it and see if it might be bent a little bit. They are a pretty straight ahead design and you might be able to get to close a little tighter. If not, as long as the blade seems to seat relatively well you shouldn't have any problems.
Good luck!! And, let us know how it goes!

First off welcome to the show.
Rocket dood seems to have covered your questions . I wonder if it is loose with or with out the blade.. if tight with the blade you should be fine. They are a nice little razor to be sure. Should do you very well.
