Gem Contour I ~
I'm sort of half looking for a Gem Contour I (the one with the metal handle) razor. But I have no idea what a reasonable price would be should I run across one. Any idea what's a fair range on these?

Not a lot I would think. At least I would not pay much for one.

I have a contour II but have not shaved with the contour I. The II is a very mild razor tome. Does a good job but not as good as the older ones. (of course YMMV) Fuzzy

I was thinking of getting the contour (I) to use as a travel razor, because if something happened to it it wouldn't the end of the world. I prefer the metal handle of the (I) version to the plastic of the version(II).

DD Cool.. but just to throw it out there you can get a G bar or push button or feather weight for cheap and they are better razors for me.. a good 1912 is not very expensive either and is a MUCH better razor. this is all IMHO.. there are several travel razors on the bay now I see.. they have the shorter handle and a metal travel case. Work great also and pack well. Just a few thoughts if you can not find a Contour I you like. Fuzzy

My first "1912" arrived this weekend & it shaves like a dream, so maybe I will get the "travel version".

Yep, I've bought several 1912's since this post. One of which was the shorter handled travel version. I've found that I like the longer handled "chain link" handle better and it travels just as well. So I recently gave my shorter handled "travel" model to a friend who has just started "wet shaving".
