Hello All -
After three years of shaving with a Gillette Tech, I started looking for something that would shave me a little bit closer, without violating my sensitive skin. More aggressive Gillettes afforded me a closer shave, but at the cost of more irritation.
I've had a GEM Featherweight for some time, but I just never got around to trying it out. I loaded it with a Treet blade, approached it very cautiously, with a very light touch, and I was wowed by the results. The ergonomics of this razor were perfect for me, and there was the close shave I had been looking for, and without any irritation. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with the discovery and I'm glad to find this forum.
I'm sorting out which blades work the best for me. (I way prefer the Treets and GEM Blue Stars, but they only last 2 - 3 shaves, even with hand-stropping.) Then, I would like to find a nice G-Bar.
Glad to be here -
- Murray

Welcome to TOS Murray! ;D ;D ;D Happy to hear you are getting great results with the Gem ^_^ Not sure where you are located but most Wallgreens sell the Gem personna blades or you could always try Ted Pella which sells blades in bulk after you find the SE that works best for you. There is as much variety to the SE as DE so I'm sure you'll find something that works for you and your skin Happy shaving!

Happy shaving!Ahhhhh.... The Shakespeare of razor forums!!!! Hi Cmur12. (Sounds like something off the 3rd Star Trek movie - cool!) Welcome aboard the good ship TOS! A fine cutter I assure ye! We are all crazy keen (or one or the other at the very least!) about Single Edge shaving here. I'm sure one day, years from now, when I am discussing this with my Psychiatrist, there may be some minor regrets, but for now VIVA LA SINGLE EDGE REVOLUCION!!!!

Thanks, mbwhoosh and rocketman!
Mbw, I already have the GEM/Personna stainless blades in your illustration, along with the Treets and the GEM Blue Stars. I've been looking at Ted Pella, and I'm guessing that the GEM carbon steel blades they offer are the same as the Treets and the GEM Blue Stars (which seem the same to me). Then they have the carbon steel PALs and the PTFE coated stainless. Once I get this all sorted out, I will probably order a large quantity of blades, in both carbon and stainless.
I'm a little worried that after all I have invested in DE, including a huge stash of blades, I may convert to SE. More likely, I'll use both and the Injector.

I myself have only tried the Ted Pella and Gem Personna and they both shaved about the same for me (which is very good ). Their are some discussions about whether "X" brand is the same as "Y" brand and visa versa going on. I do not have the equipment or the knowledge to test these theories so I can't comment. As far as razor variety I use DE/SE/and straights and am hoping to get into injectors sometime this year. Each razor type brand and model give different shaves variety is the spice of life so don't be afraid to be open to more stuff just budget enough $$$ for food shelter water and internet then sit back and let the RAD take hold VIVA LA REVOLUTION besides resistance is futile

It is all a matter of what my mood that morning is.
