I would like to educate myself on the history the Gem razors more... What is the oldest Gem SE razor? A picture would be great too.

Don't know for sure but around 1900. Dave, the owner of this sight will be glad to help you learn. He will be away this weekend I think so maybe by the beginning of the week he can give you and answer.
Just wondering have you given an SE razor a test drive yet?

You need to get yourself a lather catcher style from before 1912. Beautiful razors and excellent razors. Just ask Fuzzy (wchnu). We both love them.

Dave might correct me on that. I tend to get confloosed. It is the one that he used in his video about putting a blade in a lather catcher.. the exact razor. he gave to me awhile back. Fuzzy

cool I am ready for my history lesson.
Thansk for the offer fuzzy but I'll wait until I score one myself. I have a lather catcher style on my radar.

Just be sure that the lather catcher you have your eyes on takes modern SE blades. I almost bought one but thanks to Dave found it only took the wedge blades that came with it. Would not take the modern blade. One made after 1900 should be okay though. If you find one on eBay just ask here and one of us will let you know about the razor.
