Napoleon - how did you replate the handle? Did you get someone to do it or did you do it yourself? What kind of $$ did it run you? What kind of metal is that?? (So many questions...so little time!)
I would like to learn how to do this myself but I haven't looked into it too much. Also, I would like an idea of what people charge for small jobs like this so I might go hunt down a replater where I live and know a little bit about it before I open my yapper flapper!
thnx!

I got it replated in a factory that makes glasses (they are plating the frames). The guy that is head of the "replating" section did that for me, about 10$ a razor. He rechhromed it. Problem is, the factory works only from 9-15h so now I have no chance of getting there (I got them replated when I wasn't working 8-16h- and it's an hours drive so...) Some of the work: The replating was so cheap cause they are always chroming frames, hundreds at a time, so it's no problem for him to put one razor in the tub (or whatever they use). Plus, I think he did that as a favour to me and pocketed the money

That is great work! What a price too! I wouldn't care if he was financing his great aunt's new Harley with the dough, what a deal!
I am going to hunt around where I live and see if there are any plating places where I might be able to get such a thing done. That NEW looks spectacular!
When you got the ER handle plated, would the razor head turn out just as good? Or would the blade retainers need to be removed for plating?

I've had no problems with TTO mechanisms, so I doubt that the "springs" on ER and GEMs would make a problem.
