Unfortunately, Cooncatbob says that the thread from my gem isn't produced anymore so he can't make a handle. None the less, until I buy the real one, I had to try it. As I had some spare time, I tried making one The tools: After 10 minutes with the dremel: The screw is not the right size, I can only screw it in about 3/4 of a turn but it holds the head. Now I'm waiting for the glue to dry. Than I can spray it with shiny black lacque (spelling). The handle is not straight but I am happy with it bearing in mind I did it with a dremel and have no talent for handywork

Interesting work.. I am suprised that the threads will not take a modern screw... Did not know they were real special. Cool ideal with the dremel though.

That is a heck of a job just using a dremmel!! I hate to think what sort of shape it would be if I tried!
There must be a way to match the threads?? An old tap and die set maybe?
I give you an A+ for effort!!!

Looks very nice! I am extremely impressed that you did that on the dremel. I turned a handle last week, but I have been afraid to post it after the discussion of modding vintage razors. I ended up "working" some brass threads, and it now works well, but I couldn't find any readily available threaded rod or machine bolts that worked either.

Another who is impressed with your craftsmanship using only a dremel looking forward to seeing it after it is lacquered and affixed to the razor head. Nice job. As rocketman suggested if you find a cheap tap die set and a tube of wire the right size you can make your own threaded screw

OK, I'll take a couple pictures. By the way, if you haven't painted the handle yet, I have a little secret for black wood that I think looks pretty dernd good. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Your skill and workmanship with the Dremel tool is impressive. Very nice looking handle.
Perhaps I've missed something along the way though, but wasn't the original objective to make a handle that looked like the "Ivorite" handle that was on the "Elite" and the "Traveler"? If so, why do you want to paint it black rather than ivory colored?
Regards, Tom

Yes it was, but along the way, I've decided that I'll rather buy and use an original one, rather than a copy. Plus, this type was easier to make and I already had black lacque at home so the cost was minimal:)
