I went without a shave yesterday but here's Tuesday's experience:
Tuesday, 15 November
Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (11) Made-Rite 500 PB Brush Nivea Rasier Creme Barbasol Pacific Rush
I'm still getting a really great shave from this combination even though the blade is getting a bit old. __________ Jeff

Tuesday
Razor: Ever-Ready SE 1924 Blade: GEM Stainless Steel SE blade Brush: Synthetic Lather: Godrej Deluxe Lime Post-shave: Alum, Japanese A/S Balm
Result: DFS+, with a couple of minor weepers. Much nicer than the carbon steel blade I used earlier (at least with this razor). The "shovelhead" 1924 is a bit clunky under the nose, but the shave is wonderfully close.

Wednesday, 16 November
Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (12) Made-Rite 500 PB Brush Euro Palmolive Cream Vi-Jon Swan Arctic Blue
Amazingly enough, I'm not noticing that the blade's getting much duller. It looks like I'll be getting a couple more shaves out of it. __________ Jeff

Thursday 11/17
Razor: Star SE 1912 Blade: GEM Stainless Steel SE blade Brush: Synthetic Lather: Van Der Hagen Deluxe soap Post-shave: Alum, Japanese A/S Balm
Result: Very nice first shave with the 1912. I think this will be a keeper. Very close shave, but not as aggressive as the ER 1924 model. I borrowed my son's VDH soap... OK but nothing special.

Thursday, 17 November
Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (13) Made-Rite 500 PB Brush C.O. Bigelow Cream Barbasol Brisk
What is it with this blade? After 13 shaves this blade is STILL giving me close and comfortable shaves. It looks like I'll be using it again tomorrow. __________ Jeff

Friday, 18 November
Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (14) Made-Rite 500 PB Brush Nivea Rasier Creme Vi-Jon Ivy Club Spice
I felt a bit of dullness from the blade this morning so tomorrow will be the last day I'll be using it. __________ Jeff

You have a metal of merit to bury it with? Fuzzy I should! This is the best blade life I've ever gotten. I can frequently get as many as 10 shaves from a blade but by then they're pretty well shot. I got a decent shave out of this one even this morning. __________ Jeff

Saturday, 19 November
Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (15) Made-Rite 500 PB Brush Euro Palmolive Cream Pinaud VI Bay Rum
Another good shave this morning. I bid a fond farewell to the blade I've gotten so many shaves from...it definitely felt a bit dull. I also put the Heavy Flat-Top away for awhile. I'll be going back to the Clog Pruf tomorrow after a long hiatus. Looking forward to that since it's always been my favorite. I've enjoyed the mildness of the Heavy Flat-Top though. __________ Jeff

15 - YOWSER!!!!!!! What was your 'maintainance protocol' during such a wonderful use of a blade? Did you ever strop, or clean with alcohol, or just leave on the floor.... or??? thnx! I really don't do anything special - just pat the blade dry after most uses. What I really attribute the long blade life to is my fairly light beard and fine hair. I'm quite certain I wouldn't get away with so many shaves out of a blade if my beard were more wiry. __________ Jeff

Your hair must be fine indeed - that is a heck of a schwack of shaves from one blade!!
