Where do you buy your blades from? What type of blade do you use and why?

After trying a wide selection of SE blades, I seem to have settled on the PTFE Gem blades available through Ted Pella laboratory supplies. They are a mail order house you can access at : www.tedpella.com/dissect_html/dissect.htm#_121_2Most folks purchase the Product #121-3 - Single Edge, PTFE- Coated, Stainless Steel Blades You do need to buy a stack of them. But they are the way to go. For me they are simply the most reliably consistent and effectively sharp blade that I have come across. It makes shaving a pleasure - my skin just shines after a good old stubble busting with one of these in my favorite blade frame. I currently am out of these and it is pricey to get them shipped to Canada. But, since I have run out shaving has just not been the same. Time to bite the bullet and order some blades!!!

So far I've only used the Gem SS blades that I can get locally at Walgreen's. I will very soon be purchasing a couple hundred of the GEM PTFE coated blades from Ted Pella though. I hear that they are a good bit better than the drugstore variety.

I can get Treet PAL and the cvs blades local. SO that is what I mostly use. Unlike Rocket Dood I get great shaves from the carbon steel blades. I finally am getting the CP out in the mail today and I will throw a few Treets into the box for ya.

Around here I can only find CVS and Walgreen Gems/Personas, they are both stainless. I prefer the walgreens over the CVS, but not really a big fan of either. I've tried Ted Pella blades and they are good. Not too long ago I wanted to try some of the carbon Treets and Pals. Fuzzy was kind enough to send me some Treets, Pals, and Pellas to do a comparison test. I have to say I liked the carbon blades a lot. In the future I will keep Pellas on hand, but will rotate with the carbons.
