I have seen in some SOD posts that some of you use a "touch up" pass after you have done your regular passes. The idea of a touch up pass occurred to me after watching one of Mantic's basic shaving videos. He called it blade buffing and used just water to lube his face. I was able to use his method to get BBS shaves almost all the time. After a month or so of using just water to lube my face for the touch up pass I stumbled upon a thread on SMF about Leisureguy's experimenting with various oils to make his own "Last-Pass" shave oil. Gave that a try and found it works much better than just plain water. Leisureguy's blog post is linked to below. He discuses the oil pass and what he finally came up with. I use the Last-Pass oil just as he formulated it. leisureguy.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/the-oil-pass/I would be interested to hear what any of you guys think about this oil should you give it a try.

I use witch hazel for touch up pass. I don't blade buff. I find the rough patches while splashing it on and run mostly across the grain to clean them up. The WH is plenty slick for this. Also makes my face feel good. Fuzzy

That's prety much what I do also. I almost always use WH before an AS, so like Fuzzy, I can feel any rough areas as I splash on the WH. I have found that Thayers Lilac and Aloe WH seems to almost have a slight lubricating quality that helps the razor glide smoother.

I use the cheap-o wal mart brand that contains alcohol. People who don't like that need to get the Thayers as it is alcohol free. The lemon scent is one of my favorites. Fuzzy
