I was given a Star SE recently from a fellow shaver online. Any tips, or info on this razor, anything I should know before I use it?

From what I've read the Star SEs are very similar to the Gems. I don't have to be able to tell you from experience, but the history of the 2 companies seems to explain why the razor are quite alike.
I look forward to hearing what you think about them and their similarities and differences once you've had a chance to give it a spin. Congrats on the addition to your razor family. I hope none of your others razors become jealous!

It's taking a barbicide bath right now but I hope to try it next week. I'm using a DE for a week but I have to say, it's not making the cut...I have to do multiple passes for this thing to clear a days growth. The GEM Micromatic, or as I like to call it, the Amazo-matic cuts down the whiskers a little better. I'll try different blades in all my razors to see which work best before I have a final conclusion.

What model star is it? I have a 1912 that shaves as good as the Gem and Ever Ready models. I hope you enjoy it.
