I have read numerous times that there wasn't really a 1912 known as the "Damaskeene", that it's simply a nickname for the early models that advertised the Gem Damaskeene blade. Well, I was digging through some old magazine ads and found these that actually refer to the razor itself as a Damaskeene. So I guess we have been historically correct all this time and now I can refer to my absolute favorite razor by it's legitimate given name! 1915: 1914: 1918? 1919?

You are a generous man Fuzzy! You will do well come Karma time!!
I have one of these razors too - the damaskeene is the 1912 with "convexly concave cover-plate", according to the inventor. This is the design that is in the 1912 patent. I just babbled on at an unnamed razor site about this very razor. They are very nice shavers. Someone who has not yet tried one should take you up on your offer!
I had seen those advertisements before but it didn't sink in I guess. I also figured the razor was called damaskeene because of the blades as well. I think I finally get it now!!

Great ads in this thread. I like the Damaskeene more that the other 1912s for some reason. I never knew it was produced for so long though, I thought regular 1912s took over after a couple of years, ie 1914. But the last 2 ads make it look like at least 1917.
