Using pella coated SS, and they only give me 3 good shaves and a horrible 4th. Can do a good close shave in under 15min, just don't even have that long, I'm not a morning person you see... rather sleep in or spend my morning loading up on caffeine. Use to be a night shaver, but it's too cold now. ;D Cold in the morning too yes, but cold and a shower helps wake me up, and just do a quick shave which the DE can do fine.

Hand strop those pella blade and you should get 7 good shaves from them. If not they you must have wire for a beard! ;D

I have wire for a beard. Hand stropping (or even using a proper 1912 stropper and strop I have) does nothing. There's DE blades that can only get 3 shaves too, but some DE blades than can get 4-6 shaves, but no SE blade that get over 3. 2 for carbon if they are good carbon blades (ie some get 0 because they are useless, some get 1) 3 for stainless if they are good stainless, not as sharp as the good carbons in the first place, but last till the 3rd day because while started out pretty blunt, they haven't lost their edge till then.
It's the wire beard, the blades are still sharp enough to do anything else like cut rubber all day when I'm finished with them, they just can't cut through my stubble.

What kind of prep do you do? I have a stiff beard and find that with a good prep there are fewer issues with blades.

Normal hot shower before hand and face lathering. I have been wet shaving since 2008, got my first SE in 2009. It's just the way it is... The only reason why I started wet shaving is for me cartridge blades aren't sharp enough to begin with, or they only last 3 shaves. And the Mrs always complained about my stubble It's wire.
