I was very fortunate in getting 3 new gem razors from a PIF I received on another forum. Could someone tell me exactly what the middle and the left one's are? I know the one in the yellow case is an open comb micromatic, which will go nicely with the copper colored one I already had. One other thing. I asked my Dad if he would like to try one of my razors, and he said yes since my Mom likes him clean shaven. I am thinking of giving him my Gem Jr. since it works so well for me, and he can get blades locally. He is on blood thinners, and I am a little worried about him cutting himself. Probably needlessly. But I figured since the Jr. works so well for me, maybe it will work well for him. Should I be concerned?

Good score there. Those two look like 1912's to me. I am looking to collect some of those mm sets in the clam shells. As for the dad that question came up on another board some time back. I think the concensous was that a nick would not be that bad. But i am no expert.

Thanks for the answers Fuzzy. I'm gonna see if my Dad wants to try the gem Jr.
Now it's time to break out the elbow grease and see how much the two 1912's will shine.

Thanks for the answers Fuzzy. I'm gonna see if my Dad wants to try the gem Jr. Now it's time to break out the elbow grease and see how much the two 1912's will shine. They will probably do pretty good. I actually have a couple of the travel size razors. They work great and store very easy. be sure to post some after pics. Fuzzy

Well, I just finished my first shave with my 1912. It is a bigger adjustment than I thought it would be from the Jr., due to the weight difference. But it still gave me a Damn Fine Shave. I'm looking forward to a lot more shaves from it. Up next, I think the Schick injector.

Your two razors cleaned up real nice. They look great! I know I probably aked this before, but I forgot the answer. What's the difference between a 1912 Gem and a Gem Jr.? Are they the same?

I set the two side by side and looked at them to see if there was any big difference. The only thing that I could notice was a slight difference in the angle of the head. Almost too slight to notice, and it might not be there on others of the same razor. Shave wise, I would say the jr. is less aggressive, but not by much. I think it has more to do with the weight than the actual heads them selves.

So, have you tried shaving with the Micromatic open comb? It's a totally different experience. The Micromatics are, by far, my favorite razors

Yeah, I like the open comb MM a lot. The Gem Jr. is my favorite, with all the rest right behind it in no particular order.

My 1910 and 11 Gem Juniors are my favorite followed by the 1912's. Then the mmoc and others come around.

Does anyone know when they stopped making the 1912 Gems?
Thanks,
