Hey everyone. As the title states, what's up? Got anything going on, even non shave related, you are excited about or looking forward to? Maybe even something that just happened that was really cool. I'll start. I have two days of vacation added to my weekend this week. What's my plan? Ride the motorcycle as long and as far as possible. Last year I did an Iron Butt ride. I finished with 1561 miles in 34 hours and 10 minutes. (On my V-Max, so it was about 2.5 gallons of gas, or 100 miles or so, at a time ) Not so lofty of goals this year, but I might do the Saddle Sore 1000 challenge, 1000 miles in 24 hours or less. Last week the GF wanted to go to the Uncle Kracker concert at our local state fair. I have never really heard of this guy (band?) but it was a good show, and I got to have some funnel cake, so I guess it was OK So... What's up guys?

Not much Andy, Spent a couple hours cleaning the house with SWMBO this morning. Going to go grocery shopping in a bit. Then I'm going to come home and resume my Micromatic hunt. It was supposed to rain all day here, but it hasn't started yet. Hot and humid outside, but as soon as it starts raining the temp will go down. I had actually planned on going camping this weekend, but decided to postpone due to items that needed to be done on the homefront. Looks like a good decision as it is pouring up in the high country.
Talk at you later,
Alan

I really enjoy grocery shopping. I tend not to make a list and take a lot of time going from isle to isle looking for something I've never tried before. When ever possible I pick up something new each time I go out. After watching a Good Eats show where Alton Brown mentioned how he likes brisling sardines I decided to grab a tin. Why not, the worst thing that could happen is I don't like them, spit it out and never try them again. I now keep a few tins on hand for random snacking.

IF you like sardines try the fish stakes.. they are herring and to me better. I keep a lot of that kinda thing around for when the weather does bad things here and the services are interrupted. Such as hurricanes or things of that nature. They store a long time also. Fuzzy

Had an interesting two days on Friday and Saturday. Went to help my employer out with their fair booth and a very large Grange Fair in central Pa. Supposed to be the biggest one in the country. I must say it was a really big setup.
Yesterday the wife and I spent all day visiting antique stores. Looking mostly for Cast Iron cookware of the vintage type. Also vintage razors and for the little woman tea pots.
Saw lot of CI but nothing that really interested me. Did help one antique dealer identify a fake Griswold CI ashtray and also helped her get the price right (she was way, way low on another older Griswold CI skillet.
As for razors, saw about 5 of them. One was a beat up Fat Boy that looked really really bad. Also saw a nice Rolls razor but it was too high priced. Then saw a very nice 1930's Gillette NEW with case and blade holder. Again it was something that I already have and had no interest in. A bit high priced too I thought. Finally saw an ER travel razor kit with case and all. Beautiful thing but I just didn't think I needed another travel razor. All my razors are in fact travel razors.
Did find the wife a tea pot that she liked. She is pretty picky and I like that. Does not go for the real expensive stuff and only stuff she thinks she will use.
As for me, I found a PA license plate from my birth year, 1948 in pretty decent shape. Gonna hang it somewhere in the house. Where who knows right now. Want to clean it up a bit and shine it before hanging.

Well, after almost 2 years out of my other "hobby", Sunday I set up my 55 gallon aquarium. Everything seems to be working, although I did have to swipe the heater from my 70 gallon tank as the original one didn't seem to be very reliable. Still not sure what the plan is for livestock. I'm going to cruise the pet stores today for some inspiration. For some reason I'm a sucker for cory cats, so a bunch of them are a must.

Never had one of them fancy fishing holes in the house before, not sure what to put in there. Perhaps some catfish... Bryce I seem to pick up coffee pots like your wife does tea pots. I have several of the older stove top percolators and some of the drip type. Love um. I just went 70's and picked up a Poly-Perk to take to work so that I have good fresh coffee without having to walk down stairs. I am drinking the first cup of coffee from it as I sit here at home wide awake. Good stuff. I know a lot of people POO POO perked coffee...but then again I like revolvers too. Going to play Taxi later today and take a few friends to New Orleans. Will go back on Friday and pick them up in the morning as I have work that afternoon. Which means that I should be sound asleep.....but am I? Nope not even close. grrrrrrrr Fuzzy

Sounds like some fun Fuzzy. She does not really collect any particular brand. Just nice pretty ones that come fairly cheap. To her they will be users when she has company and needs more than one cup of tea.
I'm into the cast iron cookware though. Kinda like I am with the vintage razors but I am a lot more careful about what I buy and spend. Learned that from acquiring almost 50 razors. Like when you buy razors you need to look the old CI cookware over real well, looking for cracks, major pitting and to see if it is a "spinner" which means does it set level. The whole CI stuff is better saved for another thead.

Well, I sprung for a new smartphone yesterday. An HTC Incredible Android phone. Spent the day setting it up and exploring how it worked. Needs a software upgrade (which is coming from Google in a few days) so I can use the full function of bluetooth ear piece to make hands free calls. Also may get a larger battery due to power consumption. That maybe be fixed in the upgrade too.
But after one day I really like the phone. Since I use Google calendar and Gmail for my calendar and contacts this phone will save me a lot of trouble syncing with Windows. I am weening myself off Windows. Two of my three computers are running Ubuntu Linux and the third still has Windows on it. Need that for two business operations for now.

Boy, it was hot out there today. I can’t wait for the weather to break. They say Thursday it’s going to drop down to twin digits. Hopefully we’ve seen the last of triple digits. Anyway, I spent the morning re-painting a wrought iron patio set we have in the back. I’ve had this set since 1983. Before that it belonged to my wife’s mom, who bought it in the early sixties. I could have gone out and bought a new set, but they just don’t make them like this anymore. I’d have to pay $600.00 for something comparable then it would probably only last 3 or 4 years. So to me, it was worth the effort to take the time and paint it. When I got that finished I went to the grocery store to do the food shopping for the week. I bought a lot of fruit while it is still in season. Got some peaches, plums, strawberries, green grapes, and melons. When its hot, I eat a lot of fruit salads for supper. Cool and light. Well, I’m going to go on line now to see what I can find for injector blades. The ones I got at CVS just aren’t doing it for me.

I miss the fruit selection I had when I lived in Mesa. Pretty much just the basics to pick from up here. I tell my self I miss the heat, but I might change my mind when I get back some day. The high for today in the Black Hills was a whopping 67 degrees, and it was windy and rainy as well. The cool weather was nice when the GF blew out a tire on the highway on our way to her aunts house for a family lunch. The nuts came off in a flash but I had to spend a good 20 minutes working the wheel off At least her spare was inflated. In the end it was worth it, I got to look like a hero, and her aunt makes some incredible pulled pork!

Had a lousy Labor Day weekend. Tooth ache in big way. Got so bad Monday nite that I did not sleep but went through 2 of the little bottles from an airplane drink of Scotch just swishing the booze around the affected teeth. Got to the dentist this morning and he ended up pulling the tooth and even that was not a piece of cake. Seems I had an extra wisdom tooth that was entangled with a molar and finally after 62 years started to give me trouble. To top it off I had another tooth, a molar on the other side simply break off on Sat evening while eating peanuts. It was one that needed to go anyway and had plans to do just that. So by the end of the month I will be without a couple molars. Not to worry though, dentist said I don't need them to eat my filet mignon. Be going to bed shortly and I will be putting the gold crown that was on the tooth pulled today under my pillow so one of Fuzzy's relative will take it and leave some money in its place.

Sorry to hear about the tooth Bryce, hope all is better by now. I ran into a guy at work who also collects CI. He's going to a small town Flea Market in Prescott Valley this weekend to hunt some down. Seems he made a good score a couple of weeks ago in that area at a estate sale. He's going to see for me if they have any razors there. I wanted to go along with him but just to tired. It was a real busy week at work so I plan to just do grocery shopping this weekend and spend the rest of the time sitting in a comfy chair with a good book. Hopefully I'll go next weekend. Did the "Tooth Rabbit" leave any money under your pillow?

Instead of leaving money I had him put the funds into the coin bank. Will be getting a new soap or two from Krissy here soon. Thanks for the donation.... Fuzzy
