Ok guys, today was my first shave with my Valet Autostrop model C. I was modified new Ted Pella blade, and put in the razor. I was little nervous in the beginning. The shave was great, at all, with one small nick. I`ve got BBS with 2 passes, only WTG! The shave was similar like my Micromatic Open Comb, but little more aggressive, in my opinion. I will use the Valet and next few times, to improve my techique The other gear : VDH boar brush, Kupa fresh shaving cream, Nivea sensitive balm.

very cool.. I do not find that anything is more aggressive then the OCMM but sounds like you got a great shave.. I love my VAS Model C.

Congrats, glad to hear the shave went well ;D just goes to show how unique each razor and each person's face is. I found my VAS C to be very mild, that's why vintage razors are awesome variety! good luck with your future shaves and happy stropping

As my sig says, here comes a stupid question from a stupid person. How do you take the blade out of an Autostrop? I currently have two and for the life of me can't figure it out. I've watched Dave's video on how to modify an SE blade, and may give it a try.

If they are original blades, they might be rusted in and a needle nose pliers could be in order. I highly recommend giving the AS a go. I really like the shaves I get from mine!

OK, thanks. I tried that and neither one moved so you're probably right.

Yup...rusted and stuck! I have had a few like that too. Definitely use some pliers. You may even have to let it soak for awhile

No, both of them are identical Model C's with the same case. The second one I bought has three extra blades but they're pretty rough looking. The one I have listed here for sale is currently on it's way to a B&B member so he can give it a test run to see if he wants to purchase it.
