Hi. Here are two links for auctions in New Zealand. They have both finished, so I'm assuming it's ok to post them here. A fixed price offer has been made to the people watching them - do you think either is worth buying, and if so, which is the better of the two? They're both for sale at the same price. Thanks heaps! www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=283538009www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=283536897I assume I can use modified SE blades in both? That said, there is an antique store round the corner with a pile of Valet blades - no idea what condition they're in, but I could always try.... Cheers Richard

Richard, The first one is the more desirable one. Note that it is an open comb and the second one is a safety bar (though you can't see that from the picture). I am saying this from the collectors view point. I may be wrong but I don't think either will work with a modified SE blade. The price for the OC is about right with case strop and blade box, in my opinion. The safety bar maybe a little less but it looks nice and has case, strop and blade box too. I have had no success with Valet blades, NOS or honed and stropped used blades. I have used the Feather SE blades, they are great, but hard to get. I do think somewhere on this site The model C has been discussed using the modified SE blades. Hope that helps. ;D

The 1st one, you would definitely need to use the "Hane" valet blades with the cutouts. I cannot tell on the 2nd one without seeing the head but I believe that is a model that will allow the modified SE blades to work. To each their own because for me I can get a great shave out of the VAS.
