Just got my Gem Jr. in the mail today-I found it on ETSY. I've previously used an Ever Ready 1912, a Gem G-bar, and a Gem Micromatic. This is by far the best one-best shave with least amount of trauma to my face. It's the first time I've used a SE w/out some weepers. I used a Ted Pella blade.

Which Gem Jr. are you referring to? That name was used on the 1900/1901 patent Bar Razor and also on later models of the 1912 patent razors. These are both excellent razors but they are quite different from one another.

Here's a link to a picture I posted of it on The Shave Den-I haven't figured out how to post pics here. www.theshaveden.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=130&pictureid=881In case that doesn't work I'll describe it-It's got a fat short black plastic handle. The razor head is a bronze/gold color. It came with instructions, a brush (I presume to clean the razor?), a blue and yellow cardboard case, and 3 reversible blades-very cool as you use it on one side until it's spent and turn it over. Has anybody out there actually tried one of these? How would it compare to the Ted Pella blade?

OK, that is the 1912 model that they referred to as the "Parade Model". I believe you'll find that reference on the outside of the packaging.
As I said before, the 1912's are excellent razors. My personal preference is for the 1900/1901 Bar Razor, but the 1912 is a close second. Any other safety razor is a distant third from my point of view.

How about my other Gem Jr?-it's just to the right of the case in my multi-razor pic. I haven't tried it yet.

How about my other Gem Jr?-it's just to the right of the case in my multi-razor pic. I haven't tried it yet. It is really the same razor with a different handle. It should shave the same, but due to the extreme difference in the handle, it may feel quite different until you get used to it. Both being 1912's it is really just a matter of which handle feels the most comfortable to you.

Enjoy the shaves. Fuzzy
