Saw an item labeled as a Superior Safety Razor on da 'bay.
Where does this fit in with the whole SE history? Was this another competitor that didn't quite make it in the long run?

superior began in 1900 and was around 15 years or so. a lot of their razors were patent by august scheuber, whos name appears on dozens of gem patents. a funny tidbit: the 1908 superior head: the back of the head has all the superior "scrollwork", but guess what the top of the razor looks like? a 1910 gem, complete with the G in the center. it even has the bar. edit: i see the exact one youre talking about is a 1908. and seeing who the seller is im suprised theyre not charging $500 for it

Thanks for the information, Dave. I would have been over here asking you about it soon. A little birdie pointed me at it a couple of nights ago. I was wondering why it got noticed. (Doh, Kevin!) Rumor has it that this site is raising the price point on nice SE razors a bit more every day.
