I already posted this in the SOTD forum, but I thought I would add an update here, as well.
Bryce/Possum was very kind and sent me some of the GEM stainless blades with PTFE coating from Ted Pella, to try. I had my first shave with one tonight. I didn't find it as sharp as the carbon steel Treets and GEM Blue Stars, but I did find it the smoothest SE blade I have used. Sunday night shaves tend to be my best, after a longer hiatus since my last shave, so I will shave with this blade later in the week, to compare. From what I've read on these forums, I expect this blade will also last me longer than the carbon steel versions.
I wasn't at all favorably inclined to order any of these blades before this trial, but at this point I'm pretty sure that I will. I will still be ordering some of the carbon steel blades, as well, as they are just a different SE experience.
Many thanks, Bryce!

I still use Wlagreens GEMs and PAL blades from a local grocery store, just to help make sure they stay on the shelves. I do the same thing. I figure that it makes sense to do what I can to ensure a local supply of blades.
