I recently discovered Dave's forum here, but I was one of the first people discussing single edge razors at shavemyface.com.
I have: an early Star wedge blade razor, a G-Bar, a couple of Micromatics (comb and no comb), a Contour II, an Ever-Ready with a tiny black wood handle that can take wedge blades or current blades, a 1912 Ever-Ready, and several others I've lost track of.
I started with Gem razors in the 1980's when I bought a pack of blades and mailed in the coupon on the back with $1 to get a Contour II razor.
I've seen a picture of an old blues musician shaving himself with a bare disposable blade and no razor. Too poor to buy the razor, I guess.

I'm afraid I've been out of those Feather single edge blades for a long time. I got them from JimR in Japan. I don't know if he's at this forum, but he's at some of the others.
The problem was that it was a hassle to use those blades. You couldn't use them in a Micromatic at all (where theoretically the lack of a spine wouldn't hurt), and some Valets wouldn't work, either. To use them in a regular Gem razor meant adding a spine, which was always fun to remove from a used blade.
These days, I haven't even been shaving much. I've had the flu, and relapsed a couple of times when I tried to get out of the house and do much of anything.
It's too bad that Themba from shavemyface has disappeared. He was another early user of SE's, and was doing all sorts of things with them; honing wedge blades, for instance.
