i have spotted a Penn S/E razor for sale. It looks in fantastic shape. Anyone know if it takes standard S/E blades?

The Penn uses a proprietary blade. Similar to the Enders and Christy, these razors didn't have TTO, or take apart design, but were essentially one piece handles. The blades themselves would conform to the razor head and stay put for the shave. They were advertised as easy to use with no parts to break. Unfortunately, no blades to use unless you buff up a vintage. I think they take the Enders blades, but not sure on that.

Dohhhh indeed!! Here is a snip from a 1919 catologue advertising the Penn blades for sale. And, a little advertising piece about them from the same time (WW1 adverts had a lot of this story telling type of advert.) There ya have it!! Oh yeah - it seems they had what they were calling 'adjustables' later on. A knurled knob allowed for some adjustment of blade gap. This was new to me and I picked up on it looking for the pics above. Thanx for the motivation Spinyeel!!

Great stuff. ;D Much appreciated. I think I might buy the razor anyhow. It looks so cool.
