I have been wondering about these blades as Stainless Steel and not PTFE coated. I am wondering about the issue of stropping - and with a Valet Auto Strop, why not wonder?? I am pretty sure that the Pella type blades are PTFE coated (yeah?). And, like all PTFE coated blades, they really don't strop - the coating is too tough. Rather than sharpen the blades, stropping just seems to scrape the crap out of the strop. So, the PTFE blades damage the strop and do not become sharper. These stainless blades on the other hand, they should be ideal for stropping shouldn't they?? I think they may be a much better selection for an Auto Strop because of this. What do you guys think about that?? Signed - itching to strop

I think carbon blades would be the best for stropping.. but I am not sure.

I don't have much experience with stropping disposable blades so I just compare them to straights. Stainless steel straight razors usually take longer to hone but keep an edge longer while carbon steel are easier to hone but usually need a upkeep finishing hone sooner. Whether this info has any use when comparing disposables I have no idea but if they act like a regular razor then the stainless steel should strop just fine. Though it may take a few more laps than a carbon blade as it is more rigid. I am in agreement about the coating issue though, this doesn't mention it so it may be a good option if you actually plan to strop the blade.I never try and push the life extension of a disposable except maybe one or two shaves with hand stropping anyway so this doesn't really factor in with me. Lastly I think it cool that they offer blades without the spine already for people who may have use for them in that form like us SE shavers We are slowly taking over men keep it up we are the Resistance ;D

future group buy? Yes - this might well be in order!! We would just need to determine the best pick between carbon steel and stainless. Both would be wonderful to try! We need to find a single edge philantropist to set us all up with a trial!! Mbwhoosh is correct about the comparison to straights. That is what I was thinking when I saw about the uncoated stainless blades. Stainless straights are certainly workable and this should apply to disposable blades. The carbon steel mind you would probably work even better - but then the edges deteriorate quite quickly compared to the stainless with the additional alloys to deter oxidation. This sounds like the next step in our quest for Victory over the Valet! (For that matter, all the single edges really. Some advertisements used to suggest 12 good Gem blades would last for up to 500 shaves if well taken care of!!!! So, I would like the challenge personally - maybe not 500, but a half year of shaving using great old Single Edge razors, complete with some old fashioned stropping and blade maintainance would be the kitty's pajamas! - if it worked).
