I am guessing the one on the bottom is the most common style then.. I know that I will be looking more closely at the pictures to find one of that other styles.

How would you guys compare the G bar to the Clog Proof Micromatic? I just ordered a G and a 1912 (in the case) from someone on B&B and I was more interested in the 12 than the G bar. Is it a razor that's known to be much better than a Clog proof? I love my Micromatic, I've been getting great shaves from it.

The 1912 is a much better shaver.. but I would rate the G bar, feather weight, and push button above the Clog Pruf. All three of those have the same type of heads I think. Fuzzy

Nice to see there are two styles for the G Bar, now I've got to look for another (I have the fully knurled also). I think it's just a great looking razor, very retro "fifties" looking. I did really prefer the shave of a Feather Weight the week I tried each though. Still, it was easy to use, and a very comfortable shave.

I wonder if the knurling difference can be attributed to the plant producing them? The Ever Ready version doen't have the G inside the circle on the side...don't know if anyone mentioned that.
My favourite SE razors are the G-bar types. I prefer them to the 1912 and the lathercatcher types. But that's just me.

I get a good shave from them.. but I like the Lather Catcher and 1912 models much better. That is one of those YMMV type things me thinks. [glow=red,2,300]Fuzzy[/glow]

I just used a G-Bar for the first time today and got a great shave. I love the feel of this razor...it is solidly made and easy to grip.

I've used both styles of G-bars and frankly I can't tell any difference in the way they shave. If it wasn't for having tried the older models like the 1912 and the Gem Jr. Bar Razor, I believe I might very well still be using a G-bar. I tend to like the feel and heft of it and that little "flag" on the end of the handle is really useful once you get used to using this razor. I like this razor better than others of the newer designs from the 50's on forward. By the way, as far as I can tell, the die cast handle and the head of the G-bar both appear to be chrome plated. As far as the difference in the two styles of handles, the one in the upper picture seems to me to be cast from a little more "finished" tooling. Perhaps this is the later version??? Regards, Tom
