Yeah, I noticed that too Fuzzy. But I am not as kind a philanthropist as you and just kind of ignored it!! That would be a great thing to send them the correct blades! Good job for offering! There is actually a military museum in my city and they have a Gillette old style WW1 khaki set in the WW2 stuff. I didn't want to raise a fuss when I was there. But, you have inspired me!!! I am going to trot my butt down there in the next couple of weeks and get that set straightened away!! It has been bugging me for about year actually, so thnx for the inspiration! Viva La Fuzzy!

I finally heard back from the folks at the museum. this was the reply.
Thank you for your advice about the US shaving kit (WW II) showed in our museum. But it's exactly the same shaving kit with "Micromatic Blades Doubledge" (page 118) that is in the book by Henri-Paul Enjames : "Government Issue : U.S. Army European Theater of Operations. Collector Guide" (2 volumes) Book description : "This spectacular new book from Europe's leading uniform and equipment publisher, will follow in the footsteps as such classics from the past as From Doughboy to GI Histoire and Collections has earned a reputation for producing the finest, incredibly detailed, and sumptuously illustrated books. Their technique reaches a new level with this latest book. All the uniforms, insignia, badges, weapons and equipment of the ETO are described in detail and depicted in both photographs and full color graphics. This book is a must for any collector in the field". Now ewe gonn an dunn it wabbit!! ;D That is very interesting!!! An excellent response from the museum really. I have done a little poking around and it seems that the publisher for this book is a really well respected publisher of tons of military related materials. The volume referenced by the curator seems to be 'the text' used by military 'modelers', folks who put together displays in musueums as well as re-enactments and such. Big stuff!!! Now you wascally wabbit!! What to do next??? This is really a great lead to find out more information regarding military issue razors of different kinds. If indeed this doood is as connected to information as it would appear, either he is wrong - and of course we (if I say 'you' it might sound too bossy!) need to educate him. I imagine they have a process in place to make corrections. They can't possibly be 100% accurate and therefore would logically have a way to make changes and such. Now, if he is correct, he must have a wicked cool source for info. If he is right that they were issuing these blades (and it may have been the case because steel was in short supply, and micromatics probably weren't selling (ha!) so they may have had a crapload of blades around to use) that would be great to know for our own insane edification. So, I propose you contact the publisher with the request of forwarding a message to Monsieur Enjames as it relates to his esteemed text, and suggest that you are concerned there may be an error on page 118 of his livre as it relates to issued razors. Indicate the single edge blades you believe to be correct - and wait for a response!!!!! Either he will humbly ask for more info, or will provide you with some. Then, if he turns out to be chatty, he might shoot you a bunch of cool and useful info regarding shavers de militaire. That would be quite the coup monsieur!!!! What the heck eh wabbit?? What ya got to lose? (Except time, energy, and face if it goes nowhere ) Here is the publishers email contact!! (You can thank me later!)http://livres.histoireetcollections.com/contact.html

I could be wrong I guess.. I will try to put a double edge MM blade into a 1912 head. If I remember correctly it will not at all work. well see though before I respond. But I do know that I have NOS G3 set that does not have those blades in it.

You know, I have seen this issue come up a few times on various shaving sites. People are always on about whether the DE blade would work in other shavers. Well, go for it!! If you have one you can spare, just stuff the darn thing in and see how she fits! (I know some people say it doesn't make sense to do it because one edge would get buggered in a non-micro and you would only have one edge - but you only get one edge with an SE so....) Put it in a micro too if you can to see how it fits in there - I would love to know that as well.
VIVA LA FUZZY!!! (Nothing like a good hunt eh wabbit?)

I got another email from the Gentleman. I explained the difference in the razor heads. I also invited him to come to the forum and talk with us about these old razors. We will see. He seems to be interested in making sure the set is correct.
