Here are my finds for today. First I found a Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf in its case. I also found a Gem Junior today as well. I've been wanting to find some Gems so today was very successful. I didn't find any of the older Gems with the ornate heads which I love, but I'm pleased with this haul. Can't wait to see how they shave. I'd appreciate if someone can give me some more info on these razors like possible dates of manufacture & how do they shave. My new SEs, a couple of GEMs:

Very nice finds. The Jr. Is agreat shaving razor. The clog pruf is also. Though I think the 1912 (the Jr.) is the better of the two. Hope you enjoy.

In my opinion you got one fine razor there. That GEM Jr will do a great job removing the beard. Both in comfort and in style.
As for the Micro"Junk"omatic. My pet name for them will tell you right off that I do not like them. Worst SE razor ever made. Can't get over the fascination that so many new SE users have with them.
Now if you want to really enjoy SE shaving and do it in real style, find yourself a nice Lather Cather style SE.
Good luck with your venture into SE shaving. You will be glad you did even with the Micro"Junk"omatic! ;D

I shaved with the Clog Pruf this morning. WOW, what a difference from DEs. This thing mowed down my coarse stubble like it was nothing. Things were going so great that I did more on my touch up than I normally do & did irritate my neck & earn a couple tiny nicks. But all in all I'm very pleased with the shave. This is the closest I've ever been to BBS & I did it with less passes. Now to just control myself on the touch ups to get less irritation.
I think I'll shave a week w/ the Clog Pruf & then a week w/ the Jr. to determine which I like better. So far though it seems like the SE approach is better for me & my beard than the DE. Now I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for any lather catcher I can find. My search of the bay last night didn't produce any results. Let the hunt begin!
Thanks all for your tips & advice helping me to prepare for this amazing journey into SE shaving!

I tried a DE last night, it didnt' cut worth crap and I had to do multiple passes in the same area. It could've been the blade and my technique... the GOMM just seems to cut through without problems. It's also easier to use when shaping my goatee.

Ice cold AV. Never tried that. Glad you enjoyed the shave. That is what it's all about.

If this is the etiquette here then consider it duly noted. Can I link to the a SoTD post here then???

Sounds like a good find! They are both great razors. Let us know what you think about the Jr.
