I picked up a NOS PAL injector here awhile back and have been undecited on putting it into use. All this injector talk here lately had pushed me almost over that edge. Have any of you guys used one. Do they shave good enough to bother with? What say the gang. Fuzzy

Go ahead Fuzzy be a guinea pig for a change. Give it a shot and tell us about it.
I had used a stick shick in an earlier life and when I had a chance to get a G1 I went for it. To tell you the truth I just love the injectors. If only I could figure out how to get a blade in the things easily.

I have a PAL adjustable injector that I have used a few times. I am not sure that the adjustment is really that noticeable on it, but I like the 50's sci-fi futuristic styling... It took me forever to win one on fleabay.. and now that I have it, if I go for an injector, I grab the G1. I wouldn't say it is a worse razor, it just isn't the injector that I am used to using.

Fuzzy, I have had no personal experience with this razor, but I have read that it is more aggressive than your typical Injector razor and that it requires a different angle of attack than Schick Injectors.

Obviously, I missed this thread when it was "fresh" . . . dunno why. Anyhow Fuzzy, I had a Pal adjustable when they were introduced on the market in the early 60's. I had been using a Schick injector at the time and that rather modern looking Pal caught my eye, so I bought one. I used it for a month or so without any particular problems but, in my opinion, one of the biggest improvement in injector razors was when Eversharp had introduced the "Hydro-Magic" feature, so eventually, I switched back to my Schick "Type I2". I do agree that the adjustment was likely so much "eyewash". I never could see much difference from one setting to another. I did like the heft and balance of that stainless frame. If it had only had the "Hydro-Magic" rinsing feature, I would likely have used it for years, but I suspect that Eversharp had that pretty solidly covered with patents. I do still have the Pal in my collection. Perhaps one day I'll have to drag it out and try it with a modern blade. It's just that it takes a lot of curiosity to get me to pick up another razor in the morning, when my 1900/1901 Gem Jr. Bar Razor is ready and waiting on the bathroom shelf. Regards, Tom

The razor was made in both adjustable and non-adjustable models. As you likely know, the Pal brand was, by this point in time, another trade-name of American Safety Razor. They also produced this same stainless steel razor, under at least one of their other brands; Personna as I recall. I'm not certain of this, but I believe the Personna brand may only have been marketed in the non-adjustable version. ps: I just noticed that there is a Personna injector on E-bay currently.Regards, Tom

What blades are you using on this one Fuzzy? Do you use different blades than the Schick or are they the same??

Thanx for the info! I really get great shaves when using Schick style blades and razors. I will definitely start watching out for one these Pal razors. Did they ever make fancier type ones? The ones I have seen are pretty much like the one in the pic above - just featherweight style plastic handles. They aren't too exciting. Any dwarf albino elephant femur handles or anything like that??
