Felt like giving it a good clean up. Boiled it in a pot. Schick Soup!! Handle melted up like crazy, knob fell off, deep rich black color now a sickly eggplant grown in the dark kind of thing. Oh well - there ya have it! Haven't destroyed a razor...yet (knock on wood) but I did buy a lot of four vintage shaving brushes, 1 was NOS another had a aluminum handle and the other 2 were plastic all of them were boar hair. I tried to boil the knot on one of the plastic brushes having heard it will loosen the glue that holds the knot and will just pull right out. Unfortunately the knot wasn't glued in but set in vulcanized rubber the boar hair became petrified and brittle and snapped off when I tried to pull them out. I had to resort to chisel the knot out with a hammer and screwdriver....as you can imagine this didn't work out well, I wound up putting the screwdriver through the handle ruining it completely. My second attempt was with the aluminum handle I skipped the boiling and just went right to the chiseling being very careful not to hit to hard. Success! I got the knot out without breaking the handle I was overjoyed....until I picked the handle up and noticed that I had concaved the end of the handle with the strikes I used to dislodge the knot. Third attempt, after the fiasco with the other brush handles I decided to try and boar out the knot with a drill. I affixed the brush on its side so the end wouldn't concave and began to drill. It went OK for the most part I was going slow making sure to use light pressure. When I had finished I thought I had finally done a good job, well until I wiped off the debree from drilling and noticed the entire edge of the knot hole was warped Apparently the heat from drilling the knot was hot enough to make the knot hole mailable and it became oval shaped rather than circular. So there you have it 3 attempts 3 failures, I learned a lot but wish I had learned it another way I didn't mess with the NOS brush and still use it as my only boar brush.

That story was soooooo scary - it straightened my hair!!!!! haha yeah luckily since that whole fiasco I have successfully re-knotted 4 brushes and PIF'ed them to others starting out. Those brushes of course were porcelain and wood not plastic and metal Porcelain brushes are the best the glue used on them was really weak and the knots just pop right out nice and clean ready to for a new one, however they are really slippery when wet. Ahhhhh! I see. You have to upload it to a host first. That is royal pain though! Hmmm. Well, at least it will keep me from uploading all sorts of goofy pics!!
thnx for the explanation!! I just had to teach you didn't I

Heheheheheh!!! Well, you DID teach me!! I guess it is YOUR fault! It doesn't seem to have kept the goofy pics away huh?? I just can't resist!!!!!! I looooovvvveeee gooofy pics!!! And, I think it may be all your fault!. Ha!! (well, only the showing me how part, not the true goofiness part. I take full responsibility for any such nonsense!) Now, you just have to teach me how the heck you quote multiple posts like that!!!! I can't do that!!! You may create a Potentially Pain in the Patooot Poster if you do teach me - a QUADRUPLE P PERSON! (Ha! Don't worry though. I would never post outside of the normal realm. I am always a flat, boring, corporate type. Never, never, never would I demonstrate any initiative, imagination or inanity. Nope, not I! I am a boring, boring, son of a beotch. Yeppers!) So, how the heck do you do these multiple quote? ? Dare tell! (Appended after consultation - I apologize to all reading who may be reading this post only for the serious content. Please understand that this derivation from the intent and purported contribution to the comprehenion of the realm of history is only a temporary, if necessary, nattering. So, how the heck do you do these multiple quote? ? Dare tell! Heh it actually won't sound very impressive after I explain it. This forum doesn't have a multiple post button so there are only two ways that I know of to do it. 1st method is to use the quote button and then just input the code and message manually. This is fun and useful for defamation of character and putting words in peoples mouths. After realizing that SE only have a single edge and that more is better I have come to the conclusion that NOTHING outperforms a mach fusion razor with its many blades and the pricing on them is so reasonable I will be opening a new forum called OMFG “ overpriced mach fusion goodness” Edge foaming gel far outperforms Williams mug soap anyday and also smells better than aqua velva The Gem Micromatic is the best shaving razor ever invented in the history of awesomeness. I wish to passionately yell its name towards the heavens so much is my love for this piece of art and you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands and sew my mouth shut before I will ever say different. I take full responsibility for the statements posted above. In truth I am an elite Canadian hacker who decrypted mbwhoosh’s account password and am fraudulently posting in his name…..<_<……>_>………don’t believe me eh? Fine then the real truth is that I drove to southern California, in my quest to procure some Canadian bacon, and on a whim decided to track down and hold hostage mbwhoosh forcing him to post this horribly long and unfunny post which I am FULLY responsible for! 2nd is simply quote a post then select all (ctrl "a") then copy (ctrl "c") and paste this in a word document. then go to the second post and repeat the steps until you have all the posts you want. copy it all from the word document into the forum post and submit it. I often do this on other forums so that I can spell check before I post (THANKS AGAIN DAVE!) so I have become pretty fast at doing this. Like I said not very impressive once you see how it is done : - / HAPPY HOLIDAYS! ;D ;D ;D

I have never seen another Forum member in any forum ever in the history of forums, who is more intelligent, succinct, and interesting than RocketMan!!!! Kudos to you sir! +1 I must agree with Dave Irving regarding the wonderful RocketMan. We are so terribly priveldged to have him here on our site. He has always contributed brilliantly and made TOS a special place to be. I am considering PIFing him all of my shaving related hardware, creams, blades, and other items. Thank you RocketMan!! Please PM me your address! Fuzzy The Gem Micromatic is the best shaving razor ever invented in the history of awesomeness.
